What's Sorta New With OHC

It's not new; the Ozark Housing Community has been a Move-to-Work Agency for 3 years. What does this mean? It's not about work; it's about helping our clients reach their and their families' goals. How is OHC helping our clients?

We partner with the Mary Hill Family Service Center, Enterprise Community Center (ECC), TRIO, and YES Program.

Mary Hill participates in A-REST. The A-REST program pays SNAP benefit recipients participating in work training and educational activities. Mary Hill also provides transportation (free of charge) for job-related activities within Dale County to those who qualify; call MHFSC at 334.350.3668 for more information.

ECC teaches ACE and GED classes at the Colvin Center, 225 Apple Circle, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. GED classes are also held at the Aviation College on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. After completing the ACE class, you will receive a free college class.

Trio provides free resources such as tutoring, career exploration, college access, goal setting and planning, FAFSA completion, and more. Call 334.406.0495 or email Trio EOC.

The YES program assists 16-24-year-olds not enrolled in public school with employable skills, career exploration opportunities, support services, GED and High School Diplomas, job shadow opportunities, and more. Call Amy Glenn at 334.774.0886.

OHC Community Star: Kasey Goolsby

Kasey started her journey by attending ACE Classes at the Colvin Center. The Colvin Center is a community center located on housing authority grounds. She is now working towards her Paralegal Certificate through ECC. She has attended ECC since August 2023 and was on the President's list with a 4.0 for the first two semesters. Her biggest obstacle is managing her time since classes are online Her plans are to work with a law office in Dothan. We here at OHC are so proud of you!
